The McKey School and community's 11th reunion is slated from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the old McKey School and community building.

Event organizers said they began to gather and renew friendships at McKey, which is located west of Sallisaw and north on Dwight Mission Road, 20 years ago.

Jackie Snow Pop, reunion organizer, said this year they have been busy making the McKey History Book, dated from 1887 to 1955, so many McKey families have shared pictures and stories. "The book is finished and ready to be presented at our reunion," Pop said.

Pop urges attendees to mark their calendar for the reunion, and bring a covered dish for lunch at 12:15 p.m.

Pop said the McKey group reunion photo, in front of the old McKey School building, will be taken at 1:15 p.m., and a short program will be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

"Let's make another day of McKey history," Pop said.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
