State Sen. Kenneth Corn (D-Howe) is on the job for another four years in the Oklahoma Legislature. Corn was formally sworn in for another senate term at the State Capitol on Thursday.

"I'm extremely proud of what we've accomplished in my time here at the Senate. We've made historic investments in education, roads and public safety, and passed tax relief for working Oklahomans," Corn said. "I am grateful for the chance to continue that service for our district, and I look forward to the many opportunities awaiting us in the next four years."

Corn was re-elected by an overwhelming majority of District 4 voters in the Nov. 7 general election. The senate will meet for an organizational day in January, with the 2007 legislative session officially beginning on Feb. 5.

Corn was recently named the 2006 legislator of the year by Oklahoma's Court Appointed Special Advocates for his leadership on issues relating to child abuse and neglect. The Majority Caucus Chairman, Corn was also honored this session by the Oklahoma Transit Association with the Keith Leftwich Connection Award for his efforts to improve Oklahoma's transportation system. Corn led negotiations in the 2006 legislative session that resulted in an agreement to increase public safety appropriations by $80 million, providing pay raises to law enforcement officers and providing additional agents to fight drug trafficking.

"Senator Corn is totally committed to the needs of his district and to the future of our great state," Senator Mike Morgan, President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma Senate, said. "I look forward to working with him again during this next term."
