County hoopsters move on to regional play

Area basketball teams move into regional play Thursday, with tournaments at Muldrow, Stigler and Wister.

Sallisaw, Muldrow and Roland are in the Class 4A regional at Muldrow, along with Poteau. Vian is at the Class 3A regional at Stigler, along with Stigler and Eufaula. Gore and central, meanwhile, are at the 2A regional at Wister, along with Wister and Savanna.

4A Regional at Muldrow

Action begins at 1:30 p.m. at Muldrow, with the 14-10 Roland Lady Rangers taking on 5-13 Poteau. County rivalries will be renewed in the middle games, as the 9-15 Sallisaw Black Diamonds take on the 9-12 Muldrow boys at 3 p.m. and the 22-1 Lady Bulldogs face the10-14 Lady Diamonds at 6:30 p.m. The evening ends with the No. 14 Roland Rangers (20-4) taking on 15-6 Poteau at 8 p.m.

The Sallisaw-Muldrow boys’ winner will face the loser of Atoka vs. Broken Arrow at 8 p.m. Friday at Eastern Oklahoma State College at Wilburton. The Roland-Poteau winner will play at 8 p.m. at EOSC against the Atoka-Broken Bow winner. The Roland-Poteau loser will face the Atoka-Idabel winner at 3 p.m. Friday at EOSC.

On the girls’ side, the Sallisaw-Muldrow winner will take on the Madill-Broken Bow winner Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at EOSC. The Lady Diamond-Lady Bulldog loser will be back in action at 1:30 p.m. Friday, facing the Atoka-Idabel winner.

3A Regional at Stigler

The 12-9 Vian Lady Wolverines take on 6-11 Eufaula at 1:30 p.m., Thursday in losers bracket play at Stigler. The survivor will be back in action at Stigler at 1:30 p.m., Friday, against the Wilburton-Hugo loser.

The district champion Vian boys take on No. 19 Eufaula (16-6) Thursday at 8 p.m. The winner faces the Hugo-Valliant winner at 8 p.m., Saturday at Stigler. Should the Wolverines fall to Eufaula, they would instead play the Wilburton-Antlers winner at 8 p.m., Friday.

2A regional at Wister

Action begins at Wister when the 3-20 Gore Lady Pirates face 3-16 Wister at 1:30 p.m., Thursday. The survivor plays at Talihina at 1:30 p.m., Friday, against the Crowder-Colbert loser.

The 14-7 Central Lady Tigers take on 16-2 Savanna at 6:30 p.m., Thursday. The winner is back in action at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at Talihina against the Crowder-Colbert winner. The loser, meanwhile, will play at 6:30 p.m., Friday against the Talihina-Silo winner.

On the boys’ side, 13-7 Central faces Savanna at 3 p.m., Thursday, with the survivor taking the court at 3 p.m., Friday at Talihina against the Talihina-Silo loser. The Gore Pirates (17-6) take on 8-12 Wister at 8 p.m., Thursday, with the winner playing at 8 p.m., Saturday in Talihina against the Talihina-Silo winner. The loser plays Friday at 8 p.m. at Talihina against the Crowder-Colbert winner.
