A felony warrant for robbery by force of fear was issued Tuesday for Mallory Renee Waldron, 24, of Tennessee. At about 7 a.m. Amarillo police arrested Waldron Wednesday in an Amarillo motel.
“Authorities arrested Waldron on the warrant from Sequoyah County. I spoke with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and they are going to interview Waldron and a male suspect,” Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said.
“If the interview goes well they will file a federal criminal complaint and hold them. If not we (Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department) will pick them up after Waldron and the male sign extradition,” Lockhart said.
According to police, Waldron entered the Roland Banking Center, National Bank of Sallisaw, on U.S. Highway 64 at 11:40 a.m. Friday and handed the teller a note saying she had a bomb. Lockhart said Waldron walked away with an undisclosed amount of money.
Authorities said Waldron was seen getting in a small four-door gold-colored car with a male subject. The car had Tennessee tags, according to Lockhart.
“We received an anonymous call Friday night that gave information about a possible suspect. We located the vehicle and one of the deputies identified it as being the vehicle that was used in the robbery,” Lockhart said.
“We were able to find out the vehicle was stolen from Tennessee. We also discovered the stolen vehicle was involved in a bank robbery last Monday in Tennessee,” Lockhart said.
Matt Caldwell, National Bank of Sallisaw senior vice president, said after the woman collected the money from the teller, she walked out the front door and walked across the street to an apartment complex.
“She went north on Taylor Street then eventually made her way to U.S. Highway 64 and went east toward Fort Smith, Ark.,” Caldwell said.
Police said FBI agents were called to the scene and are investigating what happened. Lockhart said information on the male subject would not be released until later.
