A suit alleging a wrongful death resulting from a car crash in September was filed last week in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw.

Patricia Ramirez, the mother of Alberto Antonio Ramirez, who was involved in the vehicle crash which resulted in his death, filed the lawsuit suit against the driver, Felicia Dawn Nunn of Muldrow.

The suit claims Nunn’s actions and omissions comprised common law negligence and that was the cause of Alberto Antonio Ramirez’ death.

Alberto Antonio Ramirez was the passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Nunn. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, Trooper Sheldon Dobbs said the Malibu came back on to the road and rolled one half time then came to a rest on its top. Dobbs said Alberto Antonio Ramirez was ejected from the passenger side window 20 feet from where the Malibu came to a rest on its top.

Alberto Antonio Ramirez was taken by Med-Flight to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., and was pronounced dead at 9:04 p.m. by Dr. James Greene.

Patricia Ramirez is seeking damages in excess of $10,000 from Nunn for grief and loss of companionship.

No answer was filed as of Thursday.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
