All state and county offices will be closed Tuesday in observance of the funeral of President Gerald R. Ford.

President Ford died Dec. 26 at age 93.

President Ford will lie in state in the rotunda at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Sunday and Monday, where a state funeral will also be held.

On Tuesday morning, the casket will be taken to Washington National Cathedral for a funeral.

After the state funeral, President Ford's body will be flown to Grand Rapids, Mich., where he will be buried on the grounds at the President Gerald R. Ford Museum.

Gov. Brad Henry on Friday afternoon ordered that state and county offices be closed Tuesday in honor of President Ford.

District 1 Commissioner Bruce Tabor said several new county officers will still be sworn into office at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the courtroom at the Sequoyah County Courthouse.

Most city, town, county and state offices will also be closed Monday for the New Year's holiday.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
