Brian Allen Fortenberry, 18, and a juvenile were arrested by Sallisaw police after breaking into a liquor store located at Eastgate Shopping Center in Sallisaw.
While on patrol on the night of Dec. 29, Officer Jeff Murray found that the front windows of the business were broken and advised dispatch to contact the business owner.
The owner, Helen Bibb, came to the scene and reported to Murray that it appeared that some bottles of alcohol had been taken.
Bibb also showed Murray video from her business security camera. Murray identified one of the two suspects who entered the business as a juvenile and a runaway from state custody, according to court records.
The juvenile was later taken into police custody at a Sallisaw residence and admitted to police that he, Fortenberry, and another friend went to the business to break into it and get some liquor.
The juvenile told police that he and Fortenberry took about 10 bottles of alcohol from the store, court records state.
Sallisaw Police Chief Gary Philpot said the reason why police were successful in apprehending the suspects is because of Murray's response.
"Jeff (Murray) did a good job on that," Philpot said.
