Bench Warrants Issued For Parents

Richard L. Gray, Sequoyah County District Attorney, announced last week that during the Child Support docket in Sequoyah County District Court on Dec. 21 seven non-custodial parents failed to appear in court.

District Judge Mike Norman ordered bench warrants for those who failed to appear as summoned. The seven non-custodial parents for whom warrants were issued are:

*Bobby Walker - $ 5,100 cash bond

*Gerald Taff - $15,000 cash bond

*Delmis Shields - $30,000 cash bond

*Steven Sanders - $10,000 cash bond

*Ricky Moore - $2,500 cash bond

*Melvin Jackson - $23,000 cash bond

*Ricky Anderson - $1,700 cash bond

Until Jan. 13, the district attorney's office is offering amnesty to those with outstanding child support warrants. Anyone with a bench warrant or anyone who knows of someone on this list, please contact or encourage them to contact the office as soon as possible to work out a payment plan.

The Sallisaw Child Support Office handles cases in Sequoyah and Adair counties. The office is located at 1611 S. Kerr Blvd., Sallisaw, and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
