Robin Haggard, 32, of Gans is a people person.

"I like being out in the public and working with people," she said.

Haggard worked at the Arkansas Oklahoma Gas (AOG) office in Sallisaw from 1994 until they closed in September 2004. She now works as a customer service representative for the City of Sallisaw in the telecommunications department. "I have always been a people person and my customers have always meant a lot to me," Haggard said.

"When I worked at AOG, I enjoyed talking to the customers especially the older people," Haggard said. "They would come in once a month to pay their bills. We would visit and share stories. They just become part of your life."

Haggard said one of the nice things about working at the city is she will get to see the same people again.

Haggard, who grew up in Gans, has one brother, Steven Gunter, who is three years older and a sister, Jamye Gunter, who is 10 years younger. "We are a close family," she said.

"My brother and me would ride bikes and four-wheelers in a field behind our house and shoot b-b guns," Haggard said. "We had a tree house that our dad built. We had a lot of fun together."

Haggard attended Gans High School until her senior year. She said she transfered to Sallisaw to take other courses that Gans didn't offer. She said her favorite subject was math.

"I like a challenge and I found math challenging more than any other subject. I graduated as the valedictorian from Sallisaw in 1990," Haggard said.

After high school Haggard said she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She later received her associate's degree in accounting at Carl Albert State College at the Sallisaw Campus.

Haggard said she met her husband, Brent, when she was working at Simple Simon's Pizza in Fort Smith, Ark. They became friends, started dating and later got married.

The couple have three children, Bayli, 11, Blayke, 6, and Brylee, 3.

"I love being a mother. It is a full-time job in itself, so it is hard to be a mother of three and work at the same time," Haggard said. "It is a challenge and it keeps me pretty busy. Bayli does gymnastics and Blayke plays football, T-ball, and soccer."

Haggard said when she has time she likes to do photography and scrapbooking.

"I have taken some classes in photography.

Haggard said she likes to take photos of the children and their activities. "My little one is the ham of the family when I get the camera out," she said.

Haggard said she would like to get a digital camera but right now she still shoots film.

"I am trying to make a scrapbook of the special memories of the kids," Haggard said.

"They are growing up so fast and I am trying to enjoy my time with them while they are little," Haggard said. "They are little only once."
