Sequoyah County Sheriff's investigators served a Muldrow man with an arrest warrant for rape charges Wednesday afternoon while he was being held in the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw.

Sheriff Johnny Philpot said investigators reported that Erwin Angel Ware, 55, was being held at the jail on unrelated charges stemming from cases in Caddo and Kiowa Counties and Sebastian County, Ark.

Court records indicate that, in the Sequoyah County case, Ware is charged with one count of first-degree rape and one court of second-degree rape. Philpot said investigators reported the charges stem from incidents that took place about 10 years ago involving one of Ware's juvenile female family members.

Ware is now being held in the county jail on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree rape. Jail records indicate that Ware is currently being held without bond on these charges. Jail records further indicate that Ware is also still being held on unrelated charges in Sebastian County and Kiowa and Caddo Counties.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
