Webbers Falls will conclude the home part of its 2003 regular season schedule Friday night when the Warriors host fourth-ranked Bowlegs in an important District C-4 game.

Kickoff at Smokey Cox Field is slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Warriors are 3-4 overall and 3-2 after stopping Bluejacket 14-6 last Friday night.

Bowlegs is 6-2 and 4-1 after the Bison dropped a 66-18 decision at home to second-ranked Gans last week. The loss was Bowlegs' first since a 45-28 setback to Caddo in the season opener.

The Bison are coached by Scott Douthit, and some of their key offensive players are quarterback Gannon Brown (5-11, 170, senior), running back Troy Cornelius, running back/receiver Trae King (5-10, 140, junior), receivers Terry Young and Chris Winlock and fullback/linebacker Doug Miller (5-8, 160, senior).

Cornelius has scored 12 touchdowns this season and King has nine. Against Gans, Cornelius returned a kickoff 73 yards for a touchdown and Brown rushed for a 3-yard TD.

"They have some fast guys, some speedsters," Webbers Falls' head coach Brandon Ellis said. "They'll run a basic I-formation and try to spread your defense out with twins and some trips (three receivers). We have to contain the outside, get a pass rush and cover their receivers."

Defensive end Leo Ward and safety Yen Yang recorded nine tackles apiece for the Warriors last week. Linebacker Jerry Davis and cornerback Derek Dandridge each had an interception in the contest, and Davis had a sack.

Two-way lineman Donny LeForce (5-11, 185, junior), Terry Young and David Gentry anchor Bowlegs' defense. Prior to the Gans' game, Young and Gentry led the team with 85 and 84 tackles, respectively. LeForce had 15 tackles in a 46-0 win at South Coffeyville earlier this season.

"They will line up in a 3-1 on defense with two safeties and two cornerbacks," said Ellis. "On offense we'll try to do what we did against Bluejacket, pop it up the middle. We want to execute our offense, control the clock and play hard."

Yang and Dandridge, two of Webbers Falls' running backs, rushed for 175 and 149 yards, respectively, against Bluejacket. Dandridge ran for two touchdowns (five and one yards) and he passed to end Adam Warren for the conversion after the second touchdown.

Bowlegs defeated Webbers Falls 50-12 in 2002.

Second-ranked Gans lead the district with a record of 5-0, and Bowlegs and White Oak are next at 4-1. Webbers Falls, South Coffeyville (2-3), Bluejacket (2-4), Sasakwa (1-5) and Kinta (0-5) trail the Ranchers.
