WEBBERS FALLS - The Gans Grizzlies weathered a three-point bombardment from Webbers Falls on Friday night before securing a 61-58 basketball victory on the Warriors' homecourt.

Led by the hot-shooting of Kalib Webb, Webbers Falls knocked down 13 shots form beyond the three-point arc. Seven of those came in the third quarter as the Warriors surged into a 52-48 lead.

"I haven't ever seen a team shoot as well as they shot," said Gans coach Larry Ringgold. "We went to a box-and-one and it would break open somewhere else. Finally we went back to a man-to-man and just kind of survived. Webbers Falls played well."

Gans held the Warriors without a long-range basket in the fourth quarter, outscoring Webbers Falls 13-6 over the final eight minutes to grab the win. The Grizzlies improved to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in the Riverside Athletic Conference while Webbers Falls dropped to 1-9 and 1-5.

Senior post player Chris Plank led the way for Gans with 18 points. Three teammates joined him in double figures as Josh Robison had 15 points, Matt Jacobs 14 and Jordan Woodruff 12. Kevin John added two.

"Chris Plank, Jordan Woodruff and Kevin John all did a good job on the boards. We played pretty good and we didn't turn the ball over much. Just ran into a buzz saw," said Ringgold.

Webbers Falls got a game-high 21 points out of Webb, a sophomore guard. Webb canned five of the Warriors' three-pointers while Brandon Brown, Cody Carter and Derek Dandridge sank two each. Ryan Vanderpool and Robert Ward were also on target from long range.

"We were on," said Webbers Falls coach Sean Dandridge. "We were shooting the ball really well, but so was Gans."

Derek Dandridge finished with 10 points for the Warriors. Ward added seven, Brown six, Carter six, Adam Warren five and Vanderpool three.

Gans took an early 19-12 lead, but Webbers Falls kept pace with six three-pointers in the opening half to stay within 33-29 at the break.

Webbers Falls 57, Gans 38 (Girls)

The Lady Warriors maintained their challenge for the Riverside title on Friday night, getting past Gans to improve their conference record to 5-1.

Sara Little-Masterson bucketed 15 points and Ali Morton 14 as Webbers Falls improved to 7-4 overall.

A 12-4 run at the start of the contest sent the Lady Warriors on their way to the homecoming victory. Webbers Falls led 28-14 by halftime and continued to pull away in the third and fourth periods.

"The Gans girls were pretty scrappy and they played us hard all the way through," said Webbers Falls coach Sean Dandridge. "We got all the girls in there and played pretty well, so it was a good contest for us."

In all, nine girls scored for the Lady Warriors. Charlette Hasting had seven points, Twyla McLaughlin six, Keisha Dollar five, Nicole Turley four, Sarah Humphrey three, Amy Spears two and Tabitha Tipton one.

Gans (6-7, 3-3) was paced by Randi Childers' 16 points. Micha Henry chipped in eight points, Heather Dean four, Crystle Giboney three, Kelsey Sparkman three, Tabitha Howard two and Ashley Miller two.
