GORE - The Gore girls basketball team notched its biggest win of the season so far, knocking off Class 2A No. 4-ranked Oktaha on Tuesday night.

The 61-57 triumph inside Brooks Cawhorn Gym lifted the Lady Pirates' record to 8-4 overall and puts them in the thick of the Northeast Lakes Conference title race with a 3-1 league mark.

It also snapped a tough run of losses against Oktaha, which defeated Gore three times last season and earlier this season at the Crowder tournament.

Senior post Amanda Hunt led the way for the Lady Pirates with a game-high 27 points. Lacy Taylor had another 10 points, Aubrey Henry eight and Kristi Sanders seven as Gore dropped Oktaha to 12-2 on the season and 6-1 in the conference.

The Lady Tigers were paced by Katie Needham's 15 points, 12 from Jessica Gilbertson and 10 from Misty Haley.

Gore jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and was up 29-27 at halftime. The Lady Pirates extended their lead to eight by the start of the fourth period and held off Oktaha down the stretch.

Gore 51, Oktaha 50 (Boys)

GORE - The Pirates claimed their second win in a row on Tuesday, upsetting the 10th-ranked team in Class 2A.

Josh Caudle, Bryan Williams and Jordan Burris all scored in double figures for Gore, which followed up Friday's win over Warner to improve to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the Northeast Lakes Conference.

Caudle, a sophomore center, poured in a game-best 23 points while Williams had 13 and Burris 10.

Oktaha (10-4, 3-3) was paced by Justin Smith's 18 points.

The Tigers led 22-14 entering the second quarter, but Gore fought back to within 30-28 by halftime. The Pirates were even at the start of the fourth quarter and limited Oktaha to eight points over the final eight minutes to get the win.

Roland 64, Hilldale 50 (Boys)

ROLAND - The Rangers broke open a tight game in the third quarter and went on to grab a non-conference win over Hilldale Tuesday night at Carl Matlock Fieldhouse.

The game was tied 30-30 at halftime, but Roland used an 18-9 surge to pull away.

The victory kept Roland undefeated at 12-0 while Hilldale slumped to 6-7.

Brandon Lewis paced Roland with 13 points and was joined in double figures by Jarrell Taylor and Tony Brown with 11 each and Dwight Williams with 10.

Hilldale's top scorer was Jason Drew with 17.

Roland 83, Hilldale 45 (Girls)

ROLAND - A dozen Lady Rangers scored on Tuesday night with Dara Tyler's 24 points leading the way as Roland thrashed Hilldale.

The Lady Rangers stagged Hilldale with a 22-9 run in the opening minutes and led by 22 at the break.

Katie Beshoner and Candice Kidd had nine points apiece and Jenny Beshoner eight as Roland moved to 10-2 on the season.

Hilldale, which got 12 points from Lacey Smith, fell to 4-10.

Inola 59, Muldrow 57 OT (Girls)

FORT GIBSON - Sydney Davis scored a game-high 23 points on Tuesday night to lead Inola past the Lady Bulldogs in the first round of the Old Fort Classic.

Muldrow falls into the consolation bracket of the tournament and will play Sequoyah-Claremore at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Inola advances to meet Stigler in the semifinals.

Gena Sanders and Jordan Southerland both scored 11 points for Muldrow. Katrina Proctor and Mashiah Akin added 10 apiece.

Okay 58, Webbers Falls 55 (Girls)

OKAY - The Lady Warriors' conference title hoops took a blow on Tuesday night with a close loss against Riverside leader Okay.

The Lady Mustangs (10-5) claimed their second win of the season over Webbers Falls to go 5-0 in the league. Webbers Falls dropped to 7-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

Chelsea Clark paced Okay with 21 points and Jamillah Reed added 14 as the Lady Mustangs battled back from a four-point halftime deficit.

Webbers Falls was led by Ali Morton's 18 points. Sara Little-Masterson had another 17 and Charlette Hasting 12.

Sequoyah-Claremore 46, Muldrow 42 (Boys)

FORT GIBSON - Sequoyah held off the Bulldogs on Monday night to advance to the semifinals with a first-round victory at the Old Fort Classic.

Muldrow (7-4) fell behind 36-29 at the end of the third quarter before getting as close as two late in the contest. Trevor Earls hit a three-pointer with :09 left, cutting the gap to 44-42. Sequoyah then hit two free throws to seal the win and move into the semifinals against Eufaula, which knocked off Stilwell in another first-round clash.

"It was just one of those nights," said Muldrow head coach Brooks Cawhorn Jr. "We didn't shoot the ball well and looked fatigued. We didn't get many good looks at the basket and couldn't get a shot to drop in the third quarter."

Austin Day was Muldrow's top scorer with 14 points. Caleb Cawhorn scored another 11 and Spencer Tally had eight.

Muldrow is scheduled to play Stilwell at 8:45 p.m. Friday in a consolation bracket game.

Muldrow 64, Stigler 42 (Boys)

STIGLER - Muldrow turned things around after a slow start and the Bulldogs went on to post the win over Stigler Saturday night in a non-conference basketball game.

The Panthers buried four three-pointers, including three by Tyler Garner, during a 16-1 spurt at the start of the contest. Muldrow answered with a 10-0 run to close the first quarter and eventually grabbed a 29-26 halftime lead. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 10 by the start of the fourth quarter and then closed the game with a 17-5 surge.

Spencer Tally paced Muldrow (7-3) with a career-high 30 points.

"He just had the right match-up, we got the ball to him and he shot the ball pretty well. Spencer played good defense and got some points off steals and he also had seven or eight rebounds," said Muldrow head coach Brooks Cawhorn Jr.

Matt Lucas chipped in another 10 points for the Bulldogs, while Austin Day had six.

Garner finished with 15 points to pace Stigler and Logan Stephens had eight.

Stigler 58, Muldrow 38 (Girls)

STIGLER - Miranda Clark poured in 31 points on Saturday night to guide the Lady Panthers past Muldrow.

The Lady Bulldogs played Stigler close for a quarter before a dry spell in the second period allowed the home team to go on a 15-2 run and grab a 33-15 halftime edge.

Muldrow was led by Katrina Proctor' s 17 points.
