Biles, Brown Lead Roland Past 'Cats

ROLAND - Roland lost four players about a minute into the game, but regrouped to roll to a 70-47 victory over Checotah Saturday night at Carl Matlock Fieldhouse.

The non-conference victory kept the Rangers undefeated at 11-0 and was their second of the season over Checotah.

Both teams had four players ejected following an altercation in the opening moments of the first quarter.

Casey Biles and Tony Brown picked up the slack for Roland with 23 points apiece as the Rangers dominated inside the lane. Biles, a senior center, also grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds.

Roland opened up a 20-5 lead after eight minutes and was up 40-10 by halftime. The Rangers' scoring was rounded out by Dwight Williams with eight points, Wes Just six, Andrew Crow four, Nick Mooney three, Jeremiah Johnson two and Brandon Serjeant one.

Checotah was paced by 13 points from Brad Whitmus.

Katie Beshoner poured in 18 points Saturday night as the Lady Rangers cruised to their seventh-straight win.

Roland moved to 9-2 on the season after taking control of the game in the first quarter. The Lady Rangers outscored the visitors 24-13 in the opening period and went on another run in the second to build a 45-25 edge by halftime.

Dara Tyler added 16 points for Roland and Christy Neu 10. Candice Kidd scored seven, Haylee Smith six, Casey Wilson six, Toni Keen five, Jenny Beshoner two, DaWaina Clark two, Jamie Simpson two and Tamika Copeland one.

Checotah (2-10) was led in scoring by Shavonda Martin's 11 points.
