A Muldrow woman died from injuries she sustained during a Monday night wreck about four miles northeast of Sallisaw.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that Joyce Gann, 54, was driving a 2003 Jaguar at about 8:11 p.m. when the accident occurred. Gann was traveling north at a high rate of speed, when she came over a hill and lost control of the vehicle, the OHP reported.

Gann's vehicle left the road on the east side and went into a broad slide, before going airborne for about 30 feet. Her vehicle overturned three and a half times before coming to a rest on its top, according to the OHP.

Gann, who was wearing her seatbelt during the accident, was taken by Southwest Emergency Medical Service to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., where she was listed in critical condition with head and internal trunk injuries. The OHP reported that Gann died during surgery at 12:29 a.m. Tuesday.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
