Karen Lee Aaron, 38, of Sallisaw originally was on probation for second-degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property and had received a five-year suspended sentence, but after a December incident that sentence was revoked.
Richard L. Gray, Sequoyah County district attorney, said that on Dec. 21 Aaron burglarized the home of a Sequoyah County home and concealed certain property taken from the home. Aaron has a previous history of property crimes.
Gray said that Aaron was sentenced to an additional five-year term in state prison that is to be served consecutively to her revocation. Aaron was also ordered to attend and complete moral reconation therapy while incarcerated.
According to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Web site, the moral reconation therapy program is a "systematic, step-by-step treatment program for treatment resistant clients. The system is designed to alter how offenders think and how they make judgments and decisions about what is right and wrong to do in situations. The system uses a series of structured exercises and tasks to foster development of higher levels of reasoning, as well as addressing other treatment areas."
