Police Chief Shaloa Edwards said the fieldhouse at the football field was broken into on the night of Jan. 8, and the damage to the building and the estimated worth of the items stolen totaled $3,195.
Officer Dale Sneed investigated the break in, Edwards said, and reported that Football Coach Virgil Terry informed police of the break in at about 8:10 a.m. Jan. 9.
Sneed reported the burglars apparently pushed open a small bathroom window, damaging the window, to get into the fieldhouse. The burglars also apparently tried to break the door lock by hitting it with a concrete block. Damages to the lock and window were estimated at $150.
Sneed said the coaching staff took an inventory of missing items, and reported that the thieves apparently knew where the items were kept because some areas were disturbed and some were not.
The missing items and their estimated value include the following:
Edwards asks that anyone with information about the break in or anyone who has seen or knows the whereabouts of the stolen items contact the Sallisaw Police Department at 775-4177.
