Sequoyah County law enforcement agencies continue to crack down on the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine as they made their first clandestine lab seizure for the new year Friday morning, according to a press release from the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office.

Sequoyah County Sheriff's investigators and deputies, along with District 27 District Attorney's Drug Task Force agents, teamed up to execute a search warrant on a clandestine methamphetamine lab located in a remote area north of Muldrow.

During the search process, officers at the scene reported finding chemicals and equipment commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine, along with items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

Officers also reported that the location appeared to have, at one time, been rigged with "booby traps." Officers reported finding several homemade electrical devices wired throughout a shed.

While no one was present at the location at the time the search warrant was served, officers reported that suspect information was gathered at the scene and, pending further investigation, arrests were expected in the case.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
