Members of the Bikers-Making-A-Difference Helping-People charitable biker organization and Sonic Drive-In in Sallisaw are hosting a benefit luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sallisaw Civic Center Feb. 9, Curt McGlothlin, BMAD president, said.

The benefit is for Trevon Frye of Sallisaw who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in June.

The family makes frequent trips to Tulsa for his chemotherapy treatments, which are expected to last for two and one-half years. All proceeds from the luncheon will assist the family with food, lodging, travel and lost wages.

The menu will consist of chicken fajitas, chips, salsa and dessert, all for $5. Tickets are available at Clifs Pharmacy and Sonic Drive-In, McGlothlin said.

For pre-sale tickets, or to volunteer, call by Feb. 4, (918) 775-0078; Poindexter at (918) 776-3033.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
