Dear Editor:

Once again the old Sallisaw High School has been a place where people can go and vandalize.

This time the memory walk has been the target. Several, at least two of the large bricks close to the top of the walk have been stolen. I am not sure which ones, but one is on the Creek side of the walk above the large Benson family brick and below the Barger Family brick.

There are three other small bricks lying there which were not taken. These were three Bolls family bricks.

The other one was in the center of the walk: Between the Fine and Murell large bricks. Anyone who knows whose names were on these bricks please contact someone with the association. The president of the association is Shannon Fisher. Or contact the police as a report has been made.

It is amazing that people can sink so low as to steal something like that. It was delinquents - either adult or juvenile - who did this. It had to have happen within the last few days.

What is next? Why are people so easy to destroy something that is being preserved as part of our history? Do people not care about anything - it seems they do not.

If anyone has any knowledge of this please report it to the police or to an association member. Yes, there is still an association and they are trying to preserve what is left of a building that was destroyed by an act of stupidity and malice.

Help save what is left. There is still life left in the building and it will come back.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
