Yvonne Nance of the Central area, who represents County Commission District 3 on the excise board, said Johnson attended the board's meeting Monday after being approved by the Oklahoma Tax Commission to serve on the board.
Johnson's appointment to the board returns the three-person board to a two-person voting majority. Johnson represents District 1 on the board, and the District 2 board position is still open. Steve Carter, District 2 County Commissioner, said he is still looking for someone to serve on the board from his district.
The two positions on the board became vacant late last year when two board members resigned.
District 1 Commissioner Bruce Tabor said the commissioners cannot spend their monthly road monies without the approval of the excise board members, which left the commissioners without road money for December and January.
Nance told the commissioners Monday morning, "We approved both expenditures this morning." January's road funds are $181,617.06.
Nance said the excise board members will have to attend two training sessions on March 7 and 9.
