One of the most anticipated services ever added at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw is the newly implemented obstetrics clinic.

Holly Martens, of the hospital’s public relations, said that Sequoyah County has been without an obstetrician and gynecologist for several years, and the hospital is excited to welcome Jamison Alexander, DO, to the physician team.

Alexander will provide pre-natal and obstetric care once a week, and will see patients at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital for care leading up to delivery. He will provide delivery care at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau.

Martens said to make an appointment with Dr. Alexander, patients can call the Sequoyah Memorial Outpatient Clinic at (918) 774-1116.

“Dr. Alexander will be a great asset to Sequoyah Memorial,” Martens said. “He hails from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, Texas, where he completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology.”

Alexander earned his bachelor of science degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and attended Des Moines (Iowa) University School of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery where he earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine.

Alexander served as co-president of the Resident Housestaff of Organization at Texas Tech, as a Graduate Medical Education Committee member, and as a Gynecologic Surgery Committee member. Alexander has also attended numerous conferences and educational workshops such as The Society of Gynecologic Surgeons Postgraduate course, the Advanced Pelvic Floor Surgery Conference, and the Office of Rural Community Affairs Healthfind annual meeting.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and water sports.

Alexander said he is excited to join the team at Sequoyah Memorial.

Martens said Alexander joins a rapidly growing health system. She said currently available at Sequoyah Memorial are colonoscopies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, EGDs, hemorrhoidectomies, laproscopic procedures, and more.

Martens said, “Sequoyah Memorial has been very busy adding services and physicians to the slate of healthcare resources available. Sequoyah Memorial has an active staff of physicians, offers medical imaging, rehabilitative services, a sleep disorder center, hospice and homecare, and the sale of home medical equipment. Sequoyah Memorial also operates one of the busiest emergency rooms in the area, seeing over 1,500 patients a month.”
