Dear Editor:

This letter is concerning the dismissal of a city employee, Dana Tracy, without any reason or cause given.

It is hard for us to understand how an employee who has worked for the city over 15 years and who has done such a great job would be let go. In our books, he is the only one who shows results around this town.

When he was off work due to injuries received on the job, the town went to pot and the town appearance was terrible. Dana believes in keeping the town looking its best at all times and takes his job very seriously. It didn't matter what time of day or night he was always there whether it was fixing water leaks or sewer problems, he was there.

All the holidays meant very much to Dana, and we could always count on him for beautiful displays for each occasion. At times I am sure he paid for much of the decorations and supplies himself.

I am sure he was always at work on time and only off for emergencies. That is a very good quality for an employee to have and which benefits the town.

It seems to me like, this is a personal matter among certain council members and the mayor and not anything to do with Dana's performance on the job. This is not the first employee that has been dismissed unfairly.

I wonder what will happen when we have our first major water problem? Who will know what or where or even how to commence to take care of it?

It was a very dark day at Gore when this happened to Dana Tracy. He is very well thought of by the majority of the town.

We wish Dana all the best for the future; he deserves it. As for the town of Gore, people need to wake up. Our town had money when Mr. Summers was here, and now for some reason the town is broke!

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
