Two Kansas City, Mo., residents are facing armed robbery charges after they allegedly held a Vian man by knifepoint, took him to an apartment, and beat him Feb. 10.

Norman Herald Tate, 26, and Michelle Rana Bryant, 24, were booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on various counts, and were set to be arraigned Wednesday.

Tate was booked on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, trespassing, armed robbery, kidnapping, disobeying a lawful order, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance without a valid prescription, all after two former felony convictions. Tate is currently being held on a $125,000 bond.

Bryant was booked on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, trespassing, armed robbery, kidnapping, and disobeying a lawful order. She is being held on a $60,000 bond.

Vian Police reported the two were arrested after a Vian man contacted police and said the two, along with a third person, had used a knife to force him into an abandoned apartment. In the apartment, the man told police the three beat him before taking a small amount of money, a coat, and video games.

Assistant Police Chief Tracy Christenberry said Wednesday morning that an arrest of the third suspect in the incident is pending.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
