Dear Editor:

The Marble City Historical Society is preparing another volume of historical pictures and information from the past and present. Our committee is searching for military pictures and documents concerning people with connections to the Marble City area.

We would like to include information on the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) and the early law enforcement officials associated with Marble City. This volume will be completed and available for sale at the Spring Fling on May 7. Photos and information must be submitted by March 10.

The Historical Society prepares and sells the historical albums to raise funds to continue the restoration of the bank building in Marble City which was listed in the National Historic American Buildings Collection on Sept. 8, 1980.

Our organization also prepared a 2005 calendar with color photos representing our recent festivals and parades. The historic volumes and the calendars can be purchased throughout the year by calling 918-775-2158 or contact: The Marble City Historical Society, P.O. Box 146, Marble City, OK 74945.

Please get your information to us as soon as possible and come join us at our next festival on May 7. The town will be filled with flea markets, yard sales, activities, and good food. Local musicians and singing groups will provide entertainment from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Thank you for your support.

The Marble City Historical Society

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
