Central and Gans have already battled it out several times on the basketball court this season, but the two rivals may have another match-up looming on the horizon.

The two neighboring schools have been assigned to the same district and will be joined by a third school, Cave Springs, when the Class A basketball playoffs tip off in about three weeks.

Playoff pairings for the state's two smallest classifications were released Thursday by the OSSAA. Gans will host the three-team District 6 tournament Feb. 9-11. The bracket has yet to be determined, but will be announced by Feb. 3.

The girls teams from Central and Gans have met three times this season with Central winning twice. Central's boys have played Gans twice, winning both times.

Gans has also been chosen as a regional sub-site. The main site for the regional tournament will be Northeastern State University's gym in Tahlequah.

In Class B, Webbers Falls' new events center has been selected to host one of the two regional tournaments in Area III.

The Warriors and Lady Warriors will have to earn the chance to play on their home floor, though, by advancing past the district tournament.

Webbers Falls has been assigned to the District 6 tournament to played Feb. 9-11 at Boynton. Arkoma and Braggs round out the four-team field.

Teams must win their first-round district games in order to advance to the regional tournament the following week.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher.
