Hotel rooms in Sallisaw should be full this weekend as young wrestlers from around the area come to town for the Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association (OKWA) Northeast Regional.

The two-day event opens on Friday and will feature youth wrestlers in five age divisions competing for berths to the state meet.

It is being hosted by the Sallisaw Takedown Club and will take place in Paul Post Fieldhouse at Sallisaw High School.

Weigh-in for Division V wrestlers will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and competition will start at 6 p.m.

Divisions I, II, III and IV will weigh in between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Saturday. Wrestling action for Divisions I and II will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Another weigh-in for Divisions III and IV is set for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Matches in those divisions will get started at 2 p.m.

Each age division will have one session, which will be wrestled until completion.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
