The meeting in Sequoyah County will be held at 6 p.m. March 31 at the Sallisaw Civic Center.
Kendra Horn, Carson's spokeswoman, said members of Carson's staff will lead the community forums. The forums are open to the public and will address Carson's pending legislation and his work in Congress in the battle against methamphetamines. The forums will include law enforcement and other community leaders discussing ways to work together to combat the epidemic.
Carson said, "Methamphetamine threatens everyone in a community. I believe that in order to effectively combat this growing problem it is critical for communities to work together. In order for my efforts in Washington to be more effective, I am seeking input from the communities in my district about how we can curb the threat this dangerous drug poses to all Oklahomans."
In the last Congress, Carson introduced the Rural Safety and Law Enforcement Improvement Act to assist rural communities in combating methamphetamine. Carson said the community forums will allow individuals to learn more about successful programs in other states and to contribute to the discussion as Carson prepares to re-introduce the legislation.
