A fatality accident occurred at 6:52 p.m. two miles west of Muldrow on Interstate 40 Dec. 24.

Tammy L. Pierce, 41, of Vian was pronounced dead at the scene, Oklahoma Highway Trooper Jeremy Weedon said.

Pierce was driving a 1999 Mercury west on Interstate 40 when she crossed the center median and struck a 1996 Chevrolet driven by Carleshia Cozart, 20, of Tulsa.

After hitting the vehicle Pierce's vehicle ran off the south side of the interstate and overturned one-half times before coming to rest in a creek, Weedon said.

Cozart overturned one-half time and came to rest on its top, Weedon said.

Stephanie Donaldson, 38, and Mercedes Donaldson, 13, both of Tulsa, were passengers in the Chevrolet. They were treated and released from the Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw for head, arm, leg, trunk internal and trunk external injuries, Weedon said.

Cozart and Unique Brown, 1, of Tulsa were not injured. Seatbelts were equipped in both vehicles and were in use in the Chevrolet, Weedon said.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
