Billy Joe Shelton, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to eight years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC).
Shelton was ordered to complete the Thinking for a Change program while in prison, Sequoyah County District Attorney Jerry S. Moore announced Thursday.
Shelton was arrested after Roland police officers initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in January. A search of the vehicle revealed a large amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
"Drug traffickers deserve no breaks," Kyle Waters, assistant district attorney handling the case, said.
Moore also announced that Thomas Rhodes' probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was ordered to complete the Thinking for a Change program while in DOC.
Rhodes had been court-ordered to participate in the Sequoyah County Drug Court program, but failed to complete the requirements of the program.
