Voyne and Susan Davis, formerly of Sallisaw, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Feb. 4.

The couple was joined in marriage on Feb. 4, 1966, in Jenks and Mr. Davis went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. While the couple lived on base in Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Davis spent her time caring for their two young daughters, Shelley and Kim.

Mr. Davis received an honorable discharge in 1970 and in 1972 they moved to Cushing after Mr. Davis became employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone.

Mrs. Davis gave birth to the couple's third child, Wade, in 1978. Two years later, the couple moved to Sallisaw where they lived until 2004.

Mr. Davis retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 2000 and Mrs. Davis is currently employed by Bancorp South in Fort Smith, Ark.

The couple has eight grandchildren, ranging in age from 19 to almost two.

In the future Mr. and Mrs. Davis hope to spend their golden years traveling the country and taking in the sights of America.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
