Lady Diamonds Win Poteau Golf Tourney

POTEAU - The Sallisaw Lady Diamonds defended their 2003 championship at the Lady Pirate Invitational with another first-place showing at the Poteau golf tournament on Monday.

Marlissa Reid's 103 led the way for Sallisaw, which had a four-player team score of 437. Reid's score was good for sixth place individually, one spot ahead of teammate Alisha Powell, who shot a 105. Sallisaw's other scores were a 116 by Kelsie Falleur and a 124 by Alyssa Clubb.

The top individual from Sequoyah County was Brooke Kuhn. The Roland senior fired a 98 to tie for fourth overall and lead the Lady Rangers to a third-place team finish.

Poteau was second with a 463, edging the Lady Rangers by 12.

Roland's Heather Armstrong placed ninth individually with a 11 while teammates Tamara Barnes and Ashleigh McClendon carded a 119 and a 147, respectively.
