Big inning carries Diamonds past Poteau

The Black Diamond baseballers benefited from a huge fourth inning on Thursday afternoon as Sallisaw rolled to a 12-4 win over visiting Poteau.

Sallisaw erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the fourth, breaking open a close game and building an 11-2 lead.

Trey Wiley sparked the big inning with a pair of hits, including a double and an RBI single. Tim Phillips drove in two more runs and Tyler Sutherland smacked an RBI double during the rally.

Sophomore pitcher Logan Middleton earned the win for Sallisaw. Middleton went the full seven innings, striking out two batters, walking none and scattering 10 hits.

Sallisaw, which was coming off a 9-0 loss at Stilwell on Tuesday, evened its record at 2-2. Poteau dropped to 1-4.
