Candidates Vie For Posts

It will be a sweet Valentine's Day for the winning candidates in five different elections set for Tuesday across the county.

From school boards to county and city commissioner posts, 14 candidates are vying for spots on boards and commissions from Vian to Central.

District 3 County Commissioner


In the Democratic special primary election for District 3 County Commissioner, six Democratic candidates will face off at the polls.

Whoever wins the primary election will go up against the Republican candidate, Jay W. Fleetwood, in another special election on March 7, according to the election board.

The winner in the March 7 special election will replace Cleon Harrell of Sallisaw, who resigned as District 3 commissioner Dec. 31 to become the executive director of the Cookson Hill Community Action Foundation.
