U.S. Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling announced Thursday that Billy Youl Sizemore, 67, and Terry Don Sizemore, 40, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Billy Sizemore is a former Sallisaw police chief and Terry Don Sizemore is a former Sallisaw police officer.
Sperling said the charges resulted from an investigation by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs and the Sallisaw Police Department. The Sizemores possessed with intent to distribute in excess of 50 grams of actual methamphetamine, according to Sperling.
"Alert Sallisaw citizens recognized and reported abnormal traffic in December, last year, at an area apartment," Sperling noted. "Sallisaw Police detectives quickly followed up, obtained a federal search warrant, and ultimately seized over 250 grams of methamphetamine, scales, and distribution packaging materials from the apartment. Detectives also seized $3,682.84 in cash from Billy Sizemore when he was booked into jail."
Sperling said Terry Don Sizemore has previously been convicted in Sequoyah County of drug possession with intent to distribute, and had received a 10-year suspended sentence.
Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date after the completion of a pre-sentence investigation. The men face a maximum sentence of up to life in prison and up to $4 million in fines. Both are in custody of the U.S. Marshal.
