A Webbers Falls man was killed Friday night after being involved in a two-car accident on a Muskogee County road, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

Joe Peter Youngblood, 60, was traveling south on Airport Road about three and a half miles south of Webbers Falls when his 1995 Dodge Spirit went left of center and struck a second vehicle on the driver's side. The second vehicle, a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina, was driven by Charlette Elizabeth Hasting, 18, of Webbers Falls.

Youngblood died at the scene of multiple internal injuries. A passenger in Youngblood's vehicle, Jane Cowen, 56, also of Webbers Falls, was transported by helicopter to St. John's Hospital in Tulsa where she was listed in critical condition with trunk, head, leg, and arm injuries. The OHP reported that Youngblood and Cowen were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. The OHP reported that airbags were equipped and deployed in Hasting's vehicle, but were not equipped in Youngblood's vehicle.

Hasting, who was wearing her seatbelt, was treated and released for internal and external trunk injuries from Muskogee Regional Medical Center, according to the OHP report.

Webbers Falls Police and Fire Departments assisted in the accident.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
