Four Sallisaw residents are facing various drug charges stemming from a drug investigation at a home northwest of Sallisaw Tuesday afternoon.

Area law enforcement officers teamed up to serve a search warrant for drugs at Glen and Pamela McCawley's home on Central High Road northwest of Sallisaw, the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office reported.

During the search, officers found chemicals and equipment commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Officers also found substances appearing to be methamphetamine and marijuana, items of paraphernalia commonly associated with the use and distribution of controlled dangerous substances, and firearms.

An infant child, who was present at the home during the drug search, was placed in the care of a family member, officers reported.

Glen Alan McCawley, Pamela Denise McCawley, Ryan Thomas Perano, and Martha Ann Wigert, all of Sallisaw, were arrested.

Glen McCawley, 38, and Pamela McCawley, 43, were booked into the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw on charges of manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), trafficking in CDS, possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor child, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, maintaining a home where drugs are kept and sold, two counts of possession of a precursor substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jail records indicate that the McCawleys were released Wednesday on $75,000 bonds each.

Perano, 19, and Wiggert, 19, were booked into the county jail on charges of manufacturing a CDS, trafficking in CDS, possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor child, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, maintaining a home where drugs are kept and sold, two counts of possession of a precursor substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Perano and Wiggert were released on $35,000 bonds each.

Court records indicate that a search warrant was served at this same home five months ago. As a result of that previous search warrant, the McCawleys were subsequently charged with several drug-related felonies.

These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher.
