The $10,000 bond of a Muldrow man accused of sexually molesting a young female relative in Van Buren, Ark., was revoked by a Crawford County, Ark., judge recently after the man allegedly contacted the girl and her family.

Billy Joe Cowan, 23, is charged with sexual indecency with a minor. He pleaded not guilty.

Circuit Judge Gary Cottrell revoked the original bond and ordered that Cowan's bond be increased to $20,000 after he was accused of making telephone calls to the family on March 31, which violates the bond conditions.

Cowan was arrested in September after a girl told police she had been sexually assaulted on Sept. 21 by Cowan during a visit to another relative's home in Van Buren.

During Cowan's initial court appearance, Cowan's bond was set with the condition that Cowan not contact the girl or her family.
