Edwards defeated current Police Chief Gary Philpot in a run-off election March 15. Edwards is expected to begin his term April 18.
Mayor Shannon Vann will also be sworn into office Monday. Vann did not have an opponent.
There will be a reception following the meeting to honor Edwards and Vann.
According to the agenda, the board will acknowledge the official election results from the Sequoyah County Election Board for the March 1 municipal election and the run-off election.
The board will also acknowledge the receipt of permit to construct a sanitary sewer line to serve the Sallisaw Municipal Airport, and will acknowledge military service credit on retirement for benefit purposes for two city employees, Troy D. Horn and Charles F. Richardson.
Also at the meeting, Howard Selman, consultant for Greater New Bethel Baptist Church, will address the council concerning a housing improvement project for the community.
The board will open bids on the wastewater treatment plant improvements. There was $130,000 budgeted for this project, and there is $116,500 remaining for construction and equipment, according to the agenda.
The board will consider items relating to an economic development infrastructure financing grant application to assist with industrial expansion. In the grant process there are several requirements, including a public hearing, citizen participation plan, and a resolution. The grant is for another industry that wants to locate in Sallisaw' Industrial Park. Julie Ferguson, grants administrator, will be present to review the items to the council.
The board will also consider items, including a public hearing and resolution, relating to the city's environmental assessment document concerning the city's water improvement project to be submitted to the Oklahoma Department of Environment Quality. According to the agenda, the item is a requirement before they can submit the city's application for funding. Ferguson will present the resolution at the meeting.
