The Muldrow High School Teens Energetically Empowering Neighborhoods (TEEN) Coalition members will participate in the Relay for Life on June 17 and 18.

The TEEN Coalition's Relay for Life team members are Christopher Larcade, Crystal Chambers, and Kyle Alderson, captains; Kayla Harkreader, Danni Powell, Trey Mabray, Trace Wilkerson, Jac Powers, Erin Martin, Heather Clayton, Niki Alderson and honorary member, Trey Brown.

The Relay For Life is an annual American Cancer Society event to be held June 17 and 18 at the Sallisaw Football field.

"The Relay for Life starts at dusk and ends the next morning. The light and darkness of the day and night parallel the physical effects, emotions, and mental state of a cancer patient while undergoing treatment," Larcade said.

The team is currently raising money and accepting donations. All proceeds will be given to the American Cancer Society which remains the largest source of private, nonprofit cancer research funds in the nation, Larcade said.

A luminaria ceremony will take place during the relay to pay tribute to those lost to cancer and to honor those still fighting, Larcade said. A luminaria donation is $5.

To order a luminaria or to help sponsor the TEEN Coalition's team by making a donation, call Niki Alderson at (918) 427-4031 or (918) 427-7227.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
