Applications are now being accepted from adults who wish to enroll in classes that begin Aug. 16 at the Indian Capital Technology Center (ICTC) in Sallisaw,

Dr. Curtis Shumaker, ICTC director, Sallisaw Campus, said.

"The fall enrollment process ends on April 20," Shumaker said. "It is important that area adults interested in attending one of our programs starts the process as soon as possible. All applications are reviewed and scored. Adults will need to schedule a TABE test date in order to complete their application. Once their application is scored and they achieve a score above a cut score, and space is available, the adult student will be notified of their acceptance. If space is not available the application will be placed on a waiting list for their first choice program and a letter will be sent to the perspective student."

ICTC evaluates all applications on the ability to benefit, Shumaker said. The current established criteria for ranking high school students is their grade point average, school attendance, completed application, and interview, each of which counts five points. The current established criteria for ranking adult students is the TABE scores, work history, completed application, and interview, each of which counts five points.

Adults who wish to enroll in a daytime program can pick up an enrollment application on the campus and schedule a TABE test, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information contact Alan Steely at (918) 775-9119 or 800-340-9119.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
