The Sallisaw High School Class of 1959 will meet at the Old South Restaurant in Sallisaw at 6 p.m. July 8.

A free barbecue dinner will be held at 4 p.m. July 3 at E & J Country Music Hall across from Curt's Truck Stop in Muldrow. Live bluegrass and country music will begin at 6 p.m. No alcohol will be allowed. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

The Gans Future Farmers of America (FFA) barbecue will be held at 7 p.m. July 6 at the Gans School cafeteria to honor the FFA National Pasture and Rangeland Judging Team Champions. The barbecue is free and donations will be accepted. The event is sponsored by the Gans Ag Boosters.

Members of the Blackgum Fire Department will hold a pancake breakfast from 6 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Blackgum Community Building, two and a half miles west of McQuicks on State Highway 100. Pancakes, bacon, sausage, orange juice, coffee and milk will be available for $4 for adults and $3 for children.

A boot fundraising drive and yard sale will be held by members of the Moffett Fire Department and Town of Moffett from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. July 3 at the corner of Grand Avenue and Old Highway 64 D in Moffett. The event begins at 10 a.m. and includes a concession featuring hot dogs, barbecue, ice cream and drinks. All proceeds will be used to help train firemen and buy equipment. The Sequoyah County Help-In-Crisis is holding hotline training in August. The training will include information on the history of Help-In-Crisis, active listening, communication, substance abuse, sexual assault, incest, children's issues, parenting, legal issues, protective orders, victims' compensation, domestic violence, multi-cultural issues, The Resource Guide and a shelter tour. The Sallisaw Football Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the football fieldhouse to discuss preparation of the football program and the next fundraiser. The Vian Community Charitable Trust will be selling racks of ribs for $15 at the downtown city park during the Farmer's Market on Saturday The ribs are being cooked by James Simmons, a member of the trust. To order call Buds & Blossoms in Vian at (918) 773-5950.
