Girls' softball tourney slated for April 27-28

The Sallisaw Basketball Booster Club will be hosting a girls' slowpitch softball tournament April 27-28 at the McGee Park Softball Complex in Sallisaw.

Age divisions will be six-and-under, eight-and-under, 10-and-under, 12-and-under and 14-and-under.

The entry fee is $100 and first, second and third place team trophies and individual medals will be awarded.

The deadline to enter is April 25.

Football boosters to meet on April 30/b>

The Sallisaw Football Boosters will meet on Monday, April 30, at 7 p.m. inside the Eastside Media Center, 136 South Dogwood.

Officers for the 2007 season will be elected and plans for the second annual Black and Orange game will be discussed.

All Sallisaw Black Diamond football fans are encouraged to attend, especially the parents of high school and middle school players, trainers and cheerleaders.

Sallisaw sets dates for Summer Pride, camps

The Black Diamond coaching staff will again be conducting Summer Pride and football camps for area youth in the coming months.

The football camps are scheduled for May 29 through June 1.

Seventh and eighth graders will meet from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. each day and the cost is $30. Youth 101 is for grades three through six and costs $35 to attend. Their sessions will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The Black Diamond varsity camp for ninth through 12th grades will meet from 4:30 to 7 p.m. each day. The varsity camp costs $30.

The Summer Pride strength and conditioning program will start June 11 and run through July 20. Cost to participate is $60. The Summer Pride times are as follows: Varsity, 6-7:30 a.m.; Ladies, 6:45-8:15 a.m.; Varsity, 7:15-8:45 a.m.; Sixth through eighth grade, 8:30 -10 a.m.; Youth 101 (third through fifth grade), 9-10 a.m. There is no weight training for Youth 101.

Sallisaw coach to conduct girls' basketball camp

Sallisaw head girls coach Casey Eubanks has announced the dates for the Lady Diamond Fundamental Camp, to be held May 29 through June 1 at the high school gym.

Campers will learn fundamentals while participating in daily full-court games and contests. The camp will conclude with an awards ceremony on the final day.

The camp will last from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

It is open to girls entering grades six through eight in the fall of 2007.

The cost is $50 and each camper will receive a free basketball. The deadline to register and pay is May 18.

Muldrow Chamber plans annual golf tournament

The annual Muldrow Chamber of Commerce golf tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, May 12.

Quail Run Golf Course, located at 401 East Sequoyah, will host the tournament which begins with check-in at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fee for the three-person scramble is $50 per person and the tournament is limited to the first 18 teams.

Golfers may buy up to two mulligans at $5 each. Door prizes will be awarded and lunch will be provided. There will be 100 percent pay-back on entry fees.

Vian schedules girls' basketball camps

The Vian Lady Wolverine Basketball Camp and Pee-Wee Basketball Camp will be held May 29-June 1 at the Vian High School Gym.

The camp for girls entering third through eighth grade will be from 9 a.m.-noon daily and will focus on fundamentals of ball handling, shooting and defense. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on May 29 and the cost will be $30.

The Pee-Wee Camp is for girls entering kindergarten through second grade and will be held from 1-3 p.m., focusing on passing, lay-ups, ball handling and shooting. Registration will begin at noon on May 29 and will go through June 1 and the cost will be $25.

There will be games and competitions daily, as well as awards, and campers will receive a T-shirt.
