Sequoyah County Commissioners approved the receipt of $191,907.55 in road money at their meeting Monday.

District 1 Commissioner Bruce Tabor and District 2 Commissioner Steve Carter approved the funds. District 3 Commissioner Cleon Harrell was unable to attend the meeting due to illness.

Don Butcher, director of the Sequoyah, Adair, Cherokee Nutrition Programs, told the commissioner that the Gans Senior Citizens Center has asked to be included in the nutrition program. Butcher said the meals will cost about $3.87, and, when an agreement is approved, he will ask that it be put on the commissioners' agenda.

Chuck Wyckoff, chairman of Sequoyah County 9-1-1, told the commissioners the 9-1-1 board is working with officials from the Eastern Oklahoma Development District to provide mapping and addressing for the 9-1-1 service. "We will then take the contract to the district attorney for approval, then ask that it be put on the (commissioners') agenda," Wyckoff said.

Wyckoff had said earlier that, when the area serviced by Sequoyah County 9-1-1 is mapped and addressed, and other issues are resolved, it is hoped the 9-1-1 service can be turned over to SBC, which will then operate the service.

After the meeting, it was announced that the commissioners, county excise board and county clerk were expected to attend a hearing in Muskogee County District Court about their dispute over the county budget. But the hearing was cancelled because some of the parties could not be present, a county spokesman said Wednesday.
