Matthew Adam Dewbre, 21, was charged with felony kidnapping and domestic abuse by strangulation stemming from incidents that occurred on March 23.
According to court records, Sallisaw police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex about the alleged abuse. The victim's sister allegedly told police that she had been staying with her sister and Dewbre for several days and that Dewbre had been fighting with the victim and had locked the victim and her child in a bedroom and would not let them out.
The victim's sister reported that the victim yelled at her and told her that Dewbre had a razor and threatened to cut her throat if she tried to leave.
The victim's sister allegedly convinced Dewbre to open the door, but he allegedly told the victim that if she tried to leave he would burn the house down with them in it, court records indicate.
Dewbre later threatened the victim again and allegedly tried to choke her. Dewbre was arrested and transported to the Sequoyah County Jail in Sallisaw.
