Two jailed for failure to pay child support

Two people were sentenced to 180 days in jail for failure to pay child support, and bench warrants were issued for six people who failed to appear in court during the Wednesday child support docket in Sequoyah County District Court, District Attorney Jerry S. Moore announced.

Jailed immediately were Jason Dotson who owes $11,270.19 and Billy McNeil who owes $7,856.

Bench warrants were issued for those who failed to appear as summoned. The non-custodial parents for whom warrants were issued are:

- Hope Barnes, $582, cash only bond

- Lisa Garvin, $3,353.41, cash only bond

- Ricky Hill, $9,921.68, cash only bond

- Delmar Jackson, $1,393.48, cash only bond

- Henry Rose , $5,292.16, cash only bond

- Henry Rose, $19,455.90, cash only bond

- Brian West, $19,852.75, cash only bond

Anyone with information about where these or other wanted people can be found should call any local law enforcement officer for immediate apprehension. Other parents who are obligated to pay child support paid a total of $1,981.47 in open court during the child support docket, Moore said.

The District Attorney's CSED will be available on the first Wednesday of every month at the offices of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Stilwell between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. or at the Sallisaw office at 1611 S. Kerr Blvd in Sallisaw on any work day from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Anyone owing child support is encouraged to call 1-800-522-2922 or contact the local offices in Sallisaw to make payment arrangements. Child support payments should be mailed to: OCSE, P.O. BOX 268849 Oklahoma City, Okla. 73126-8849.

The Oklahoma legislature and Congress has recently enacted laws to allow child support enforcement offices to collect child support owed from non-custodial parents who receive payments from Social Security, Worker's Compensation Court and regular employment paychecks. Employers can be fined $200 a day for not mailing child support payments, which have been withheld from an employee's paycheck.
