The Liberty Volunteer Firefighters Association will hold its annual meeting at 6:45 p.m. June 12 at the fire station training room.

At the June 12 meeting, an election will be held for two board positions, Positions 4 and 5, on the board of directors, association officials said.

Each fire contract represents one vote, which must be voted in person by the contract holder.

Anyone interested in filing for the directors' positions must reside in the Liberty Insurance Services Offices (ISO) area, must be a fire contract holder by May 1, and complete the following requirements:

- Submit a letter, postmarked no later than midnight June 8, to: Liberty Volunteer Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 757, Roland, Okla., 74954. Include name, mailing address, telephone number, and 911 physical address.

- Be present at the election at 6:45 p.m. on June 12.

The monthly board of directors' meeting will follow the annual meeting, or it will begin at 7 p.m.

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
