Rangers Edge Muldrow

MULDROW - Roland senior J.J. Jennings came up big as the Rangers held off Muldrow for a 7-6 win on Tuesday afternoon.

Jennings belted a three-run home run to hand Roland a 7-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning and later came on as a relief pitcher to get the final three outs and stop a late Muldrow comeback bid.

Roland had to overcome a number of errors to get the win. Two of them came in the bottom of the sixth as the Bulldogs scored three times to cut the deficit to 7-5. Beau Brannon hit an RBI single to spark the Muldrow rally and the home team scored again in the bottom of the seventh before Jennings came on to get the save.

Cody Hatman started the game and was the winning pitcher for the Rangers after notching seven strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings.

Sallisaw 7, Coweta 5 The Black Diamonds won their second-straight game, using a big fifth inning to get past Coweta on Monday afternoon in Sallisaw.

The visiting Tigers scored four times in the opening two innings and took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth before Sallisaw began to rally.

Jacob Martinez sparked the comeback with a double and Javier Olazagasti and Trevor Prewett added key base hits. Olazagasti ripped a two-run double and Prewett singled in two more runs as the Diamonds grabbed the lead.

Prewett's hit helped him get the win as the Sallisaw pitcher. The freshman improved to 2-3 on the season by striking out six, walking four and scattering eight hits over seven innings.

Sallisaw got two hits each from Olazagasti and David Hadley, while Nelson Suarez-Cruz and Trevor Teel added one RBI each.

Sallisaw was set to return to action on Thursday with a pair of games at the Benefit Bank Diamond Classic in Fort Smith. The Diamonds are scheduled to play Tulsa Washington at 3:30 p.m. at UA-Fort Smith in the first round. If they win, they'll play in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on the same field. If they lose, they'll play at 7:30 p.m. at Hunts Park.

Gore 10, Okay 0

GORE - Jeremy McElhaney pitched a complete-game shutout for the Pirates as they run-ruled Okay in a Big Eight Conference baseball game on Monday.

McElhaney (3-0) got the win by striking out eight batters and allowing just two hits.

Gore jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and scored five more runs in the second to take control. The Pirates had 13 hits while running their record to 11-1.

Josh Caudle led Gore offensively with two doubles, a single and four RBIs while hitting 3-for-3. Eric Thomas went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and one RBI and Scott Carmichael went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and three runs in the victory.
