A man charged with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl was bound over for trial on May 30.

Amos Gary Wright Jr., 25, of Vian was charged March 7 with three counts of second-degree rape and one count of domestic abuse.

At Wright's May 30 preliminary hearing, testimony was heard and Wright was bound over for trial on two of the rape counts. One of the rape counts was dismissed on defense objection. The state is expected to file amended information in the case, according to court records.

Wright is currently set to appear in court on June 16 for district court arraignment. His bond was reduced to $10,000. As of Thursday morning, county jail personnel said Wright was still in custody.

Charges against Wright stemmed from a Vian police investigation into an altercation in February at Gardenwalk Apartments in Vian. During the investigation, police discovered that Wright had been involved in a relationship with a juvenile girl and had been allegedly sexually involved for about six months, according to court records.

Another girl told police that she had witnessed Wright physically assaulting her friend several times over the past six months.

During a police interview, Wright allegedly denied that he had done anything to the girl. He told police that he and the girl were "just friends."

After an experiment that lasted several months, the editors at Your TIMES decided this week to end the practice of allowing anonymous comments on our website because most of the comments involve personal attacks and unfounded accusations. These comments do not add information to a story, or add any true insight. While we believe in the free exchange of ideas, it had become evident that was not what was happening in the comment section of our website. Readers can also become fans of Your TIMES on Facebook and may comment on our postings there. Readers are also encouraged to write letters to the editor to the newspaper about matters of public interest. The newspaper circulation is several times that of the web site, so readership is much higher. Letters must include a name and phone number so that we may contact the writer to verify authenticity of the letter. Letters are limited to 500 words and one letter per writer per month is accepted.
