Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB) recently notified the Town of Gans that their spring cleanup and beautification efforts will be bolstered by a $250 grant made available by KOB.

Gans was among nearly 300 participants in the 2007 Great American Cleanup(tm) in Oklahoma, which is an official Oklahoma Centennial project.

The town is receiving one of 33 grants that are being distributed by KOB, Gail Ederer with KOB said.

"We had an exceptional turnout across the state," Ederer said.

The Town of Gans town secretary, Retha Victory, told KOB that community volunteers drove around town in 15 different farm tractors and trailers picking up and collecting trash and debris wherever found. Participants aimed at encouraging other citizens of Gans to keep their property clean while helping them get started by collecting their unwanted materials, Ederer reported in a press release.

Because the group registered their spring cleaning, beautification and educational event to be part of the Great American Cleanup(tm) in Oklahoma, they received materials and supplies from KOB and were eligible to apply for the startup cash grants.

Keep Oklahoma Beautiful encourages groups across the state to undertake community beautification, litter abatement and general cleanup projects on a year round basis - and to emphasize them during the months of March through June during the Great American Cleanup(tm) in Oklahoma.
